Blog Post # 8

The Blooms Taxonomy was created in 1956 under the leadership of educational psychologist Dr. Benjamin Bloom in order to promote higher forms of thinking in education such as analyzing and evaluating concepts, processes, procedures, and principles. The several levels of Blooms taxonomy Domains includes: creating, evaluating, analyzing, applying, understanding, and remembering. I would use powerpoint to support creating because theres a lot of things you could create using powerpoint and a lot of creativity that comes from customizing the individual slides and transitions. Evaluating is something you have to do when you create any powerpoint because you have to evaluate the information you have on every slide. Also the same is with analyzing, you must analyzing any information before putting it on the powerpoint because you have to make sure it is accurate and correct. Applying comes when you present a powerpoint because you have to actually explain the information thats on every slide and apply it to whats being taught in class. Powerpoint helps you understand any subject better because it gives you multiple slides to explain one specific subject. I think that powerpoint is one of the easiest ways to remember facts because you can keep going through the slides which is like repetition. So there are many ways in which powerpoint can support Blooms Taxonomy, and also help students remember the information.

This website I found is made for teachers to know what new technology is being developed and what it can be used for. This website also addresses the issues the some students face and what technology can be used to help them.

Blog Post 1

My prior experience using technology has been difficult because I never formally took a technology class. Since using technology is such a vital part of being a college student especially in this day in age, I had to learn everything basically by teaching by teaching myself and guessing. How ever when I did learn the in's and outs of technology especially the basics it really helped me in school, and I was able to do my school assignments more efficiently. It also can be used as a great study tool when you know how to properly use technology.

What I hope to gain from this class is more clarity about technology and more ways to use it to help me be a better student. I am also interested to learn how early in a child's elementary education do they get introduced to technology and in what ways do they utilize it. Also, what exactly do they get introduced too? because today the earlier you get to know how to work certain types of technology the easier your education will be later down the road. I also would like to learn a sense of time management from this class because we only meet one day out of the week so it gives me a lot of room to procrastinate which a habit that i am actively trying to break.

The questionnaire that i took taught me that  I am pretty well balanced when it comes to my learning style. I will prefer visual sometimes and sometimes i will prefer to hear things. Prior to taking this questionnaire i just considered myself a visual learner but after taking the test i realized that it depends on what I am learning and sometimes I need to use both of them fully understand what i am learning.
